This lovely white gown has a square neck with two gold rings on the shoulders.  The front of the dress is sectioned with gold braid and is sleeveless.

The beautiful floor length skirt drapes smoothly down her body and blends into a pink hem.  An extra fold of white and pink fabric gives the dress a layered look.

A gold braided headband goes around her head.  It has large gold Roman leaves on it.

What is a Roman stola?

A Roman stola is what the women wore in the second century BC.  The stola was a long dress made of fabric that draped around your body.  It was worn over a tunic under garment.  The stola was usually sleeveless and fastened at the shoulders by clips.  They were made of cotton and wool.

The rich sometimes had garments made of silk.  The palla was worn over the shoulders like a shawl or draped over the head.  Sometimes they added a limbus to the dress.  It was extra material that added another layer to the dress.  The Statue of Liberty wears a stola for a dress this is probably the most famous stola known.
